Tooling Engineer


Overview

The Tooling Engineer is charged with aiding in the design, modification and maintenance of production tooling.

Responsibilities

The Tooling Engineer is responsible for overseeing the Tool Room personnel and for aiding in the design and construction of new tooling, modifications to and maintenance of existing tooling as well as the updating of design files and maintaining inventory of spare parts.

Tasks

  • Manage the day to day operations of toolroom personnel.
  • Aid in troubleshooting and correction of tooling, production, process and quality issues.
  • Monitor and report on the design and construction of new tooling.
  • Work with Sales and Production to develop tooling format and process steps with respect to quoting of new projects to customers.
  • Maintain drawing and revision control throughout the plant.
  • Order supplies/die components as needed.
  • Assist with the enforcement of ISO Quality Management System policies and procedures, while supporting continuous improvement efforts.
  • Update and maintain departmental quality records.
  • Perform other duties as directed by supervisor.

  • Experience

    The Tooling Engineer should have experience in die casting and/or injection molding as well as tooling construction with a working knowledge of quality systems and value added operations.

    Education

    The Tooling Engineer should have a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical and/or Industrial Engineering, Quality systems and ISO training or equivalent experience with familiarity with business and CAD software applications.

    Lead Maintenance Mechanic


    Overview

    The Lead Maintenance Mechanic is charged with overseeing and managing the day to day activities of the maintenance department, as well as maintaining the plant and the plant equipment in a safe and operable condition.

    Responsibilities

    The Lead Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for overseeing and managing the maintenance department and for performing preventive maintenance per Carteret Die Casting Preventive Maintenance Checklists and any other maintenance assigned.

    Tasks

    1. Oversee maintenance projects on a daily basis and advise Plant Manager of status.
    2. Perform preventive maintenance on plant equipment per the Preventive Maintenance Checklists.
    3. Record and file Preventive Maintenance Checklists as well as any other work performed on Carteret Die Casting Work Orders.
    4. Maintain adequate supply of components for maintaining plant and plant equipment.
    5. Maintain maintenance area in a clean and orderly fashion.
    6. Install and upgrade equipment as required.
    7. Troubleshoot and repair problems with equipment.
    8. Assist in the training of plant personnel to perform routine maintenance as required.
    9. Enforce and follow Carteret`s policies and procedures.
    10. Perform any other tasks or duties as directed by Management.


    Experience

    Individuals seeking this position should be dependable, able to follow instructions and be conscientious about their work and work environment. Must have mechanical aptitude. Should be able to read hydraulic and electrical schematics for troubleshooting.

    Education

    Individuals seeking this position should have a high school diploma, its equivalent and be able to read, write and communicate in English.

    Quality Manager Assistant


    Overview

    The Assistant Quality Manager is to assist the Quality Manager with quality control functions and the administration of the ISO Quality Management System and within the organization.

    Responsibilities

    The Quality Manager is responsible to provide hands on mechanical and visual inspection of precision die cast parts and for the maintenance of the quality management system within the organization.

    Tasks

    1. Assist with the development, implementation and maintenance of inspection instructions and procedures.
    2. Assist with inspection of product at all stages of manufacture from first article, first piece, and in-process production operations through finished castings.
    3. Assist with the documentation and maintenance of the Quality Management System.
    4. Work with functional management to help design, develop and implement operational procedures.
    5. Assist with the training of personnel in procedures applicable to the quality management system.
    6. Promote the awareness and understanding of the Quality Policy and Quality Management System throughout the organization.
    7. Work with customers to assure that quality requirements and specifications are properly communicated and understood throughout the supply chain.
    8. Maintain, control and calibrate measuring tools and gages.
    9. Execute Discrepant Material Reporting and Corrective Action systems.
    10. Interface with internal / external customers and suppliers for the resolution quality issues.
    11. May be required to perform as internal auditor to support of the Quality Management System.
    12. Maintain required records, controls, plans and information relative to the QMS.
    13. Assist with the preparation of regularly scheduled management review meetings on the status and effectiveness of the quality management system within the organization.
    14. Take direction from Quality Manager regarding Company and departmental goals, policies, procedures.


    Experience

    The Assistant Quality Manager should have working knowledge with the maintenance of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems including internal auditing.  That person should possess working knowledge of manufacturing processes within a precision die-casting environment.
     
    Should be proficient with using Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point etc.

    Education

    The Assistant Quality Manager should possess:Working knowledge of ISO 9000 Quality Management Systems.
    Knowledgeable with blueprint interpretation
    Knowledgeable with geometric tolerance principles
    Proficient with mechanical inspection techniques including use of standard measuring equipment
    Must be able to read and write in English

    Tool Room Personnel


    Overview

    Tool room personnel are charged with maintaining all tooling in good working condition.

    Responsibilities

    Tool room personnel are responsible for all tooling, tooling components, machining supplies and the safe effective operation of the tool room itself.

    Tasks

    1. Perform preventive maintenance on all tooling per Carteret Die Casting Die Cleaning Checklist.
    2. Maintain an adequate supply of components for maintenance and repair of tooling.
    3. Repair, replace, modify or improve tooling per instructions on Carteret Die Casting work orders.
    4. Keep tool room and equipment clean.
    5. Maintain tooling history records.
    6. Evaluate new tooling, tooling corrections as made by outside vendors per “New Die/Repaired Die Checklist”.

    Experience

    Individuals seeking this position should be dependable, able to follow instructions, read blueprints, have knowledge of operating all tool room and measurement equipment and be conscientious about their work and their work environment.

    Education

    Individuals seeking this position should have a high school diploma, its equivalent and have some machining training or experience and be able to read and write in English.
